TOP TIP TUESDAY: HAVE YOU COMPLIED WITH YOUR MANDATORY PAIA REPORTING OBLIGATION?

All public and private bodies are required to compile and submit reports in terms of Section 32 and Section 83(4) of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2020 (“PAIA”) to the Information Regulator.

PAIA requires public bodies to submit their reports annually, while private bodies must submit their reports within 6 months after the end of their financial year. The purpose of these reports is to provide details of the body’s compliance with the provisions of PAIA.

The Regulator has established an online portal where public and private bodies can submit their reports in an efficient and user-friendly manner. The online portal has been live from 1 May 2023 and the closing date for submissions of the annual Reports for the 2022/2023 financial year is 30 June 2023.
